Look how the Ohio Education Association is pitching this to teachers.
What they’re saying IS NOT what HB 616 says. HB 616 removes the state’s ability to force schools from teaching racist, divisive teachings, CRT, sexual education, and gender identity to elementary-age children. It puts the power back into the hands of the district.
Plus, it also states that teachers can not earn continuing education credits by attending classes that teach them how to teach CRT or other divisive teachings in their classrooms. Just like we wouldn’t pay a teacher to learn the ways of the KKK, we shouldn’t pay them to teach racism in their classroom.
